If we could take a train back in time what would January 16th reveal? Columbus was leaving the Americas in 1493 while Darwin was just reaching Cape Verde in 1832; the 18th Amendment was ratified in 1920 (Bummer!) and then repealed in 1933 (Whoohoo!). And while these Art Deco watches once graced ladies wrists the first Jazz Concert took place in Carnegie Hall, 1938. These repurposed pretties, are Gold filled Lady Elgin and Bulova watches that join vintage Amethyst glass and handmade Gold filled ear wires. Swinging Baby! Measurement: 2″ long.
Like Diamonds in the Sky
When I happen upon cool vintage findings the next step is to decide who will be their best mate. Here Mid-century Rhinestone clasps are gentle light catchers for their Herkimer Diamond counterparts. Actually these stones are double terminated Quartz (for spiritual attunement and healing) and hail from Herkimer county in New York State. Within their faceted lozenge shape and smoky gray matrix, the Herkimer Diamonds seem to be infused with the light from the first hints of dawn and hope for a better tomorrow. Measurements: 2″ x .5″ wide.
